The Common Sense Big Issue
Banning Material Promoting Homosexuality In Schools
- Necessary Discrimination or Out-dated Imposition ?
The debate currently raging in Scotland has implications throughout the United Kingdom and beyond. While most would agree that any form of discrimination in modern society is undesirable, the removal of 'Section 28' as proposed by the Scottish Executive would lift the ban on material promoting homosexuality in Scottish schools, and therefore could perhaps open a door to the introduction of material that could be perceived as unwelcome and possibly even as detrimental to the balanced natural development of school children. COMMON SENSE OPINION: Before removing legislation that may currently help prevent the exposure of school children to material that many do not wish to see circulated in our schools, we should first devise a practical method of achieving this objective that is non-discriminatory. In other words, Section 28 should stay until parents can be assured that their children will not be exposed to such material in any of our schools subsequent to its removal.REGISTER YOUR VOTE ON THE CURRENT COMMON SENSE BIG ISSUE BY CLICKING ONCE ON ONE OF THE FOLLOWING BUTTONS:
